Who we are
The controller of your personal data is Jadthena Limited (company no. 16232930), which runs Sail Academy. Contact us about your data at help@sailacademyonline.com.
What we hold and why
- Your email address: to create your account, send sign-in links, receipts and service emails (contract).
- Passkey public keys: to sign you in. We never receive your fingerprint or face data; that stays on your device (contract).
- Learning progress: quiz scores, mock exam results and which lessons you've opened, to show your progress (contract).
- Plan and payment records: your plan, its status and Stripe customer reference. Card details go to Stripe, never to us (contract; legal obligation for accounting records).
- Access logs and usage counts: to keep the service secure and detect bulk copying of the course (legitimate interests).
We don't sell your data, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Who we share it with
- Stripe (payments) and Amazon Web Services (sending email), as our processors.
- Our hosting provider, which runs the server the service lives on.
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
Where a processor handles data outside the UK, it does so under UK-approved safeguards (adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses).
How long we keep it
Your account and progress are kept while your account exists. Delete your account from your account page and we delete your email, progress and passkeys straight away; payment records are kept for six years because tax law requires it. Access logs are kept for up to 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data (or download it yourself from your account page), ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, or move it elsewhere. Email us and we'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
